Roller blinds
A roller blind is the simplest way to cover a window: one piece of fabric that rolls onto a tube at the top. Plains, prints, blackout and moisture-resistant fabrics for kitchens and bathrooms are all in the books we bring. Fitted inside or outside the recess, measured to the millimetre so the gaps are even.

Vertical blinds
Vertical blinds hang as fabric louvres that twist to angle the light and draw back to one side to clear the glass completely. They suit wide windows, patio doors and conservatories, where one blind has to cover a lot of glass. We measure so the louvres clear the handles and the door swing, and bring the books so you can compare the plains, textures and blackout weaves at your own window.

Roman blinds
A Roman blind is a flat fabric panel that folds into soft horizontal pleats as it is raised. It gives you the fabric choice of a curtain in the space of a blind, so it suits recessed windows, window seats and rooms where curtains would crowd the sill. We measure the recess at the visit and talk through linings, including blackout for bedrooms.

Wooden Venetian blinds
Wooden Venetians have real timber slats, usually 35mm or 50mm, that tilt to control the light and the privacy without losing the view. They warm up a living room or a bedroom, and can be finished with cloth ladder tapes in a matching or contrasting colour. We bring slat and tape samples to hold against your frames, and we will steer you away from real wood over a bath or a kitchen sink, where the steam will warp it.

Aluminium Venetian blinds
Aluminium Venetians use slim slats, usually 15mm or 25mm, that sit close to the glass and take up very little room in the recess. They shrug off damp and steam, so they suit kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms, and they fit neatly to French and patio doors. We measure each pane at the visit and check the slats clear the handles when the blind is down.

Faux-wood Venetians have the slat width and the painted finish of real wood, in a material that will not swell or warp when it gets damp. That makes them the sensible choice for bathrooms, shower rooms and kitchens where a timber slat would not last. They are heavier than aluminium, so on a wide window we check the fixing carefully at the visit.

A Vision blind (often called a day and night blind) has two layers of fabric striped with sheer and solid bands. Slide the layers past each other and the same blind goes from open view to soft light to full privacy. They suit living rooms and bedrooms where the light changes through the day; we bring working samples so you can try the action yourself.

Perfect Fit blinds sit in a slim frame that clips between the glass and the rubber seal of a uPVC window or door, with no drilling and no screws. They move with the window, so they suit tilt-and-turn windows, French doors and conservatories. We check your frames are suitable at the visit and measure each pane individually.

Intu blinds clip straight into the beading of a uPVC or aluminium window, so nothing at all is drilled into the frame or screwed into the wall. The blind sits inside the glazed unit and moves with the window, which suits tilt-and-turn windows, conservatories and homes where you would rather not make holes. Not every beading profile takes them, so we check yours at the visit before anything is ordered.

Pleated blinds concertina into a slim stack, so they suit shallow recesses and conservatory windows where there is no room for anything bulkier. They come in a wide range of plains, prints and reflective finishes for a sunny room. We measure each pane at the visit and match the frames to your window colour.

Cellular blinds are pleated blinds whose fabric forms sealed cells in cross-section, holding a layer of still air against the glass. That layer slows the heat escaping in winter and coming in through a hot summer, so they earn their keep in conservatories, loft rooms and north-facing rooms. They stack into a slim bundle when raised, and we measure each pane so the fit is snug enough for the cells to do their job.

Panel blinds are wide flat panels of fabric that slide past one another on a multi-channel track and stack neatly to one side. They cover a lot of glass without the busy look of several separate blinds, so they suit patio doors, full-height windows and room dividers. We measure the stack-back at the visit so the open panels do not sit over the glass you actually want to see through.

Blackout is a fabric rather than a style of its own: rollers, Romans, verticals, pleated and Vision blinds can all be made in blackout cloth. It suits bedrooms, nurseries and anyone who sleeps during the day, and fitting outside the recess or running the blind in side channels cuts the light leak down the edges. We bring the blackout books along with everything else so you can compare them against the room in daylight.

Thermal blinds use a lined or coated fabric that slows the heat escaping through the glass and, like blackout, they are a fabric choice available across most of the styles we fit. They make the most difference on big windows, north-facing rooms and old single-glazed windows. We bring the fabric books so you can compare the thermal linings against the plain ones at your own window.

Skylight and Velux blinds
Skylight blinds are made for roof windows, running in side channels so the fabric stays flat and holds its position however far the window is tilted. They stop a loft bedroom or a landing baking under summer sun, and a blackout version makes a roof-lit bedroom properly dark. We take the model number off your roof window at the visit. Velux and the other makes each need their own fitting.

Conservatory blinds
A conservatory usually needs two things at once: blinds for the side windows and blinds for the roof, where most of the heat and the glare comes in. Verticals, pleated and cellular fabrics all work down the sides, and roof panels are usually pleated or cellular with a reflective backing. Conservatory frames are rarely square and no two roof bars are quite alike, so we measure every pane individually and take particular care over the roof.

Fly screens are fine mesh panels or roller screens fitted to a window or a door so you can leave it open without letting insects in. They suit kitchens, back doors and bedrooms through the summer, and roller versions pull down only when you want them. We measure the opening at the visit and talk through fixed, hinged and roller options.

We fit blinds for offices, hotels, surgeries and landlords as well as for homes, including full hotel contracts. Contract fabrics, flame-retardant specifications and repeat fitting across many identical rooms are all part of it. Tell us the scale when you get in touch and we will come and look.

Before you book
Questions people ask us
It depends on the size of the window, the product and the fabric or finish you choose. That is why we measure before quoting rather than giving a figure over the phone.
You get one price that covers the product, the making and the fitting. The price we agree is the price you pay. We do not add anything afterwards.
Everything is made to your measurements, so there is a wait between ordering and fitting. It is usually two to three weeks for blinds and curtains, and three to five weeks for shutters.
We confirm the timing at your visit, once we know exactly what you are having.
Child safety matters most where blinds have cords or chains. We fit the safety devices that come with the blind as part of the installation rather than leaving them in the box, and we will talk through the safest option for a child’s bedroom or a playroom when we visit.
If you tell us there are young children in the house when you book, we will bring cordless and motorised options to show you.
