Shutters
Plantation shutters made for your windows, including bays, gables and awkward shapes. Measured by us, made to order, and fitted by the same person who measured.

Full height shutters
Full height shutters cover the whole window in one run of panels, usually with a mid-rail where the window’s own frame divides. They are the most popular style and work in almost any room, giving privacy and light control without curtains. Panels can be louvred, which is what most people picture, or solid raised panels. That is a style choice rather than a different product, and we bring both to show you. We measure each opening at the visit and talk through louvre sizes, colours and how the panels should fold.

Bay window shutters
Shutters made for bay windows, with frames cut to the exact angles of your bay, whether it is square, splayed or curved. Because every bay is different, the measuring matters more here than anywhere else, and it is done by the person who will fit them. Panels are hinged so you can still reach and open the windows.

Tier-on-tier shutters are two separate sets of panels, top and bottom, that open and tilt independently. You can fold the top tier right back for light while the bottom stays closed for privacy, which is useful on a street-facing window. They suit taller sash and casement windows; we check the proportions at the visit.

Café style shutters cover only the lower part of the window, leaving the top clear. Daylight comes in over them while nobody can see in at street level, which is why they suit bay and front-room windows on busy roads. At the visit we work out the right height for the panels against your window’s proportions.

Solid shutters have solid wooden panels instead of louvres, in the style of a Victorian window shutter. Closed, they block far more light and noise than a louvred shutter, so they suit bedrooms and period homes. The panel face can be flat or raised (again a style choice rather than a different product), and they can be made full height or tier-on-tier.

Shaped and special shapes
Shaped shutters are made for windows that are not rectangles: arched heads, circles, triangular gables and the angled windows in a loft conversion. Each panel is cut to a template of your window, so the louvres follow the shape rather than boxing it in. These take the most careful measuring of anything we fit, and the person who measures is the person who comes back and fits them.

Tracked and bifold shutters hang from a top track, so the panels concertina and slide clear of the opening instead of swinging out on hinges. They are the answer for wide openings, patio doors and room dividers, where hinged panels would foul the furniture or the door handles. We check the head fixing and the stack-back at the visit, because folded panels need somewhere to sit.

Waterproof shutters are made from a solid vinyl rather than timber, so steam, splashes and damp will not swell or warp them. They are the sensible choice for bathrooms, shower rooms, wet rooms and a kitchen window over the sink. They come in the same styles and colours as the wooden ranges, so a bathroom can still match the rest of the house.

Questions people ask us
We look at the windows you want covered, show you samples, talk through the options and measure up. You get a price for the work before we leave, or shortly after if it is a bigger job.
For a couple of rooms it usually takes about an hour. A whole house takes longer, so tell us roughly how many windows when you book and we will set aside enough time.
Everything is made to your measurements, so there is a wait between ordering and fitting. It is usually two to three weeks for blinds and curtains, and three to five weeks for shutters.
We confirm the timing at your visit, once we know exactly what you are having.
Tell us and we will come back and put it right. You are dealing with the people who measured and fitted it, not a call centre, so there is nobody to pass you between.
Everything we supply and fit is guaranteed for 12 months.
